Funny, no one noticed that I was a “sudoku mater.” Or maybe you noticed and were just too polite to mention it.

I did, however, notice that you are a “Christian, conservative, GLBT ally”, which is an interesting mix. I’d like to say that I’m the same thing, but I’m afraid that there aren’t many people who would call me ‘conservative’ any more.

Anyway, I came across your blog via a post at the Plainfield Patch (“Legal Discrimination? It’s Coming”), but I haven’t had a chance to read anything – at least, not yet.

It’s funny–of those three, I’d say it’s the conservative label that most people seem to have a problem with. A few years ago–just before the 2008 election, I believe–I had my own “coming out” as a conservative among my primarily liberal friends. Our congregation, Good Shepherd in Romeoville, is an openly welcoming place, and we have many GLBT members, so for me the “Christian” and “GLBT ally” go together pretty easily. But boy, my conservative views on government, health care, immigration, fiscal responsibility–those surprised a lot of people, to say the least. I think I may be the only GLBT ally who doesn’t support hate crime legislation.

Anyway, I hope that you have a chance to read some of my other blogs. Since starting on Patch, I’ve been posting the same things there and here on WordPress. But, there are a lot on here that predate Patch, and they’re not all as serious as the one you mention. I personally like the lighter ones best, but you be the judge. Enjoy!

How delightful to find “Get to Know Your Baker”. If I may make a suggestion, you should add that you are a niece.
